If the driver works correctly, you should see something under Ports. It will give you a COM number and list the device. Remember this COM number. If you don't see anything under Ports and instead still see the USB Device Other Device in the Device Manager, please contact us through at help@inventables.com. Method 3: Reinstall The USB Device Driver. If you are fed up with the problem of device descriptor request failed, then uninstall and reinstall the USB device driver from the Windows Device Manager to rectify the issue. Type Device Manager in the Windows search box and click on it to launch the Device Manager. No prior FTDI drivers installed. Myself and others get a common notice in both the COM and USB port “Events” section of Device Manager. Win 10 shows the following message in Device Manager COM port “Events” details section that reads: “ Device FTDIBUS VID0403+PID609A 0000 requires further installation.”. Once the driver installation is complete, you should see the device reappear in the Device Manager window as a usable COM port. The number will vary depending on how many devices you have plugged into your computer. The RedBoard will appear as a USB Serial Port, as shown in the left image.
